About Sarah

I've always had this really annoying habit... I can't stop taking pictures.  (It drives my husband nuts.) But the problem is that I'm forever on a quest for that perfect shot.  Everywhere I go, seriously everywhere, I envision and analyze how the shot would play out.  I stand behind children in line at the grocery store and wonder about how I would photograph them.  Or as I'm driving in the car, watching light shift as I move in and out of shadow, I'm considering what angle would look best.  Its habitual and I can't help myself.  I love the craft.  Photography is my release, my escape, and my creative outlet.

And I love using it to capture life.  Your life, by the way!  I work in natural light, both indoors and out and focus primarily on lifestyle photography, in relaxed natural settings.  I don't necessarily believe in "posing" and "saying cheese" and I don't do over-processing. It's just not my style. I would much rather capture you in real life.

My philosophy is simple - take pictures now.  Don't wait until your hair gets longer or until you lose that last 10 pounds of baby weight.  Don't wait for the end of the school year or until after the seasons change. Life is happening every day.  The kids are morphing into larger versions of themselves right before our eyes.  We cannot get today back.  That's why I love the concept of freezing a single frame, and by it creating a permanent representation of that moment.  It's like having the ability to pause time for one second, then keep that second forever.

I've have experience with families, children, birth, a wedding, newborns, senior portraits, couples, and still life... all of which I've enjoyed!  But my biggest photography dream is to be able to shoot births.  I love love love images of childbirth - the beauty, uninhabited emotions, and raw intensity that can be captured in a photo.  I love that in the midst of the experience, the people involved completely forget they are being photographed.  That sense of authenticity and purity is what makes the images so compelling.

I'm wife to Manny and mom to 2 little boys.  I lead a busy life of working part-time for my Dad in the insurance business, caring for my children, and keeping up with everything else!  I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 2001 with a degree in Spanish and Public Relations (neither of which am I using).
